Fresh Mozzarella-Stuffed Burgers (Keto)
Who doesn’t love a good cheeseburger? Who can resist ooey gooey cheese? These fresh mozzarella-stuffed burgers give a fun Italian-inspired twist to your classic keto cheeseburger.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs (0.7 kg) ground beef
4 balls fresh mozzarella, cut in half
1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp dry basil
1 tsp red chili flakes
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
Basil mayonnaise
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 Tbsp fresh basil or 1 tsp dry basil
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Directions
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, dry basil, red chili flakes and onion powder. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Take a handful of ground beef and flatten it into a thin patty. Place a slice of fresh mozzarella in the center, then top with another thin layer of ground beef. Press the edges together to encase the cheese inside the patty. Repeat for each of the beef patties.
In a large pan or skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the beef patties, cooking on each side until browned and cooked through, about 5-8 min per side.
While the beef patties cook, in small bowl, whisk together the ingredients for the basil mayonnaise and set aside.
Once cooked through, serve each beef patty on a keto bun (see our Keto Sesame Bun recipe) or lettuce wrap, top with a dollop of basil mayonnaise and garnish to taste.
